"So... who are you?"
Hey there! How are you doing? My name is Wiebe Koehoorn. I know, that's a pretty weird name. I'm a 29-year old guy from The Netherlands. I've been working as a translator, but now I'm on a different mission.
The Full Story"What did you study?"
When I was in high school, I did pretty well overall. I loved learning new languages, but ironically I hated subjects like economics. That just bored me to death. And I didn't really understand why I needed it. Just look at my grades: they're kind of laughable.
After finishing high school, I decided to study Spanish at university. I've lived, studied and worked in Spain a few times. (If you've never been there, you should definitely visit the country by the way.) I tried to become a teacher and studied to become an interpreter, but in the end I changed my mind.
"What do you do now then?"
I'm currently working as a translator. I mainly translate from English (and sometimes Spanish) into Dutch. I've been doing that for about 4 years now. But now I've discovered the world of investing and I wish I would've discovered it many years ago. That probably means there are many people out there who feel the same.
When I'm not working or checking out stocks and cryptocurrencies, I love working out. I like going to the gym, swimming and doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Some other hobbies of mine are playing poker, watching Formula 1 and meeting with friends.
"What about that mission of yours?"
In August 2019 I started watching YouTube videos about bitcoin. A few months later I saw some videos about the stock market too. In January 2020 I decided to start investing in the stock market. As you might know, that's when the coronavirus hit the world. I lost money and made some very poor choices.
That's when I decided to learn more about stocks and cryptocurrencies: the fundamentals, the financials and technical analysis. I've watched and read more than 500 hours of content. My conclusion was that investing isn't as difficult as many people think. I now believe that everyone should be investing, especially at this moment while the savings interest rates are so low.
My mission is to show people that investing isn't necessarily difficult. They should know that everyone can do it, not just men in expensive suits on Wall Street. Even with a tiny bit of knowledge, you can become an investor too.
